During the weekend of April 11–12, the 21st edition of the ČSOB Bratislava Marathon, the largest running event in Slovakia, took place in Bratislava. Employees of BUDAMAR GROUP were also part of this major sporting event, actively participating across several disciplines.
A total of 13 runners from different branches and companies within the group took part, forming a diverse team representing BUDAMAR across the organization. The group was represented by three relay teams and one half marathon runner.
Team spirit on and off the track
The relay teams competed under the names Budamar Marmots, Budamar Lynxes, and Budamar Bears. These names were inspired by animal motifs featured on Siemens Vectron locomotives within the group’s fleet, bringing a piece of BUDAMAR’s identity from the rails directly onto the running track.
Each relay member completed their section of the marathon course, contributing to a shared team result. This format requires coordination, trust, and teamwork—values that are equally essential in everyday logistics operations.
An individual challenge was taken on in the half marathon by one colleague, who registered under the symbolic name “Running Kristián”. Covering 21.1 km, the race tested both physical endurance and mental resilience, with a successful finish reflecting strong preparation and determination.
More than just a race
The ČSOB Bratislava Marathon attracts thousands of participants from Slovakia and abroad each year, offering a wide range of disciplines, from the full marathon and half marathon to relays and shorter distances. The routes connect the historic and modern parts of the city, creating a unique sporting and visual experience, supported by strong crowd engagement and excellent organization.
For BUDAMAR employees, participation was not only about performance, but also about connecting colleagues from across the group in a different environment. The event provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships, share experiences, and build team spirit beyond daily operations.
