BUDAMAR GROUP expands its fleet with new Softronic Transmontana locomotives

Growing transport volumes and the high expectations of our customers require modern, reliable and powerful vehicles. This is why, in cooperation with our partner RS Lease, we have expanded our fleet with a new type of electric locomotive, the Softronic Transmontana, designed primarily for hauling heavy freight trains in international traffic. The cooperation includes the lease of two locomotives.

The first of the two new locomotives, 480 092, entered service on 4 June. Thanks to its high power output of 6,600 kW, six powered axles and approvals for operation in Slovakia, Hungary and Romania, it will be used to transport agricultural commodities, metallurgical materials and products, as well as intermodal and automotive shipments along key European corridors linking the Balkans with Central and Western Europe.

The new locomotives represent another step in our efforts to provide customers with high-quality and reliable rail freight services. Modern technology, high performance and interoperability enable us to operate more efficiently across multiple countries without unnecessary delays.

The new addition to our fleet also features an original livery that continues the tradition of visually attractive BUDAMAR GROUP locomotives. The design was once again created for us by Railcolor Design. The theme of the first Transmontana is dedicated to prominent Slovak landmarks, including the Kamzík TV Tower, the iconic Slovak Radio Building in Bratislava, the M. R. Štefánik Memorial at Bradlo, the Museum of the Slovak National Uprising in Banská Bystrica, the upper cable car station at Lomnický štít, and St. Elisabeth Cathedral in Košice. The overall appearance is complemented by the state coat of arms of the Slovak Republic, symbolising our roots and pride in the country we come from.

We believe that the new Softronic Transmontana locomotives will not only serve as reliable partners in transporting our customers’ goods, but will also become worthy ambassadors of the BUDAMAR GROUP brand on the European railway network.
